V Soft™ PDO Threads

PDO threads are an absorbable surgical suture composed of polydioxanone (PDO), which are used to perform cardiothoracic surgery (such as open-heart surgery). It’s one of the safest materials implanted in the body. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4 to 6 months & naturally stimulates collagen.

There are many different sizes and configurations but generally there are two types of PDO threads: Lifting and smoothing.

PDO Lifting Threads

Lifting Threads provide a lift in two ways: an immediate lift when specially designed threads are inserted into the skin and as the threads dissolve, the body naturally produces collagen.

Results last up to two years. The lifting PDO threads require no surgery, very little discomfort and because it is a non-invasive procedure, there is little or no downtime.

PDO Lifting threads work best in the cheek, jawline and neck.

PDO Smooth Threads

Smooth threads treat wrinkled, crepey skin naturally. They provide a supportive mesh to serve as the foundation for new collagen production.

Popular areas include, forehead, glabellar, cheeks, lower face, radial lip lines and the neck.

In our office, smooth threads are often used with PDO lifting threads and fillers to achieve best results.

FAQs

What can I expect?

PDO thread procedure can generally be performed in less than an hour. The threads are very thin and are placed with minimal to no discomfort sometimes without any anesthetic or numbing cream. In other cases, a small amount of local anesthetic is injected to provide a pain free experience.

What is the downtime?

Downtime is usually limited to a day or two due to a limited amount of tenderness and minimal bruising in the treated areas. However, for many patients, there is no downtime, pain or bruising.

How long do results last?

PDO threads can last up to 1-2 years but it is entirely dependent on a patient’s age, metabolism, lifestyle and other factors. Due to the natural aging process, facial sagging will return over time. Periodic treatment can be performed to extend the results.
